It means without anxiety, giving it over to God and letting him handle it. I must admit, alot of times, I will say I give it to you Lord, then turn around and take it right back. Often I take it back, without God even having the chance to handle it. What does it mean to me, to have Faith? It means not worrying about the things I cannot control, and even the things that I can. It means trusting God enough and accepting and trusting that His decisions are always right.

It means that the promotion that my husband should get and hasn't yet, may not be in the best interest of our family. God knows everything. Sometimes he withholds something for various reasons; knowing it's not up to me to decide if its the right decision.

The worst thing I can do is say that I have faith, and not trust Him. The Word says that a man without faith is unstable! I refuse to give in to the enemy, no matter what it takes, how I feel (knowing that feelings are the last thing I should rely on).or what I think period. Hebrews 12 has been on my mind today, so I decided to dive into it, and really get the meaning behind it The sub-title "call to endurance" really touched me. I have always thought of myself as a strong beginner of something but not so much when it comes to finishing something! This Word of ensuring that we run, experience all that God has for us, and keeping Him in our sights among the many distractions we will face. There is so much to this Word, so much like life, things happening at an amazing rate in which confusion can lead to distraction. It is so important to take the Word that your given, your Rhema, if you will and really study and saturate what He is telling you. It is a life lesson, not only for yourself, but most likely a message for someone else. God is good at using other people to get His Word or point across! So with each new day I am giving, each new opportunity to share, I pray that God give me wisdom and discernment to do His Will.
Think about this, you never know that what you do or say to another person, may be the very word that they need to hear!

Peace to you all.

Blessings!

I am so excited to say that I have had more teaching opportunities. Do you have an unnatural fear about dying? I think about it more now that I am getting older, most certainly. I don't think that my thoughts are unnatural, for we all come to terms that death is a natural part of life. I think more along the lines of how it will affect the lives of those left behind. Dying is the easy part. Sometimes my thoughts about something happening to one of my kids could be alittle out there, I think, after losing my brother at such an early age, compounded with my fear of "not trusting this crazy world". I don't know what else to say about that one, I can take that one over to the OCD level. I have to be careful with that one. The Bible tells us not to fear death, and I know the end result of the journey is worth it. We are not of this world, or from this world, so we don't expect to stay in this world.

I guess I have always been that way with my children. I have only meant to protect them and shelter them. Having grown up with a family of law enforcement, reality about the dangers of this world were real! Real stories,. real victims, real crime scenes... something you don't easily forget. It doesn't help either when you are street smart, and know what time it is.

I need to give this to God, I can't control it, and I can take responsibility for my role in this scenario. I can continuously pray for their safety, wisdom, strength and guidance, and above all else, the Intelligence to know to whom to go to when the troubles come, God.... for they are coming.

One of the greatest gifts that I was ever told that is this, "We as Christians have the power given to us by Jesus Christ our Lord to command the enemy to flee from us! He must flee! Oh trust me, He will be back, but you have that power!

Penny for your thoughts.
Peace

Addiction and God's Grace......

Let's be real here, this is a very raw subject we often don't want to talk about, bring up, or much less think about, but I feel I have to do it. This blog started out as "my" personal place to write and share with myself, (really?) the things that I had read, gathered, or learned about. I started noticing that people were reading it, and sharing the blog. That is great, but It made me realize, wow, other people are reading this, better watch what I write. I don't think that is what God's intention ever was...nor is it mine! So beware, some things you read are personal, honest, and could be a bit raw... but it is my hopes that other's can apply what I write, line it up with God's truth, most importantly!, and apply it, share it, or whatever you are called to do......

I read this morning, "Dance like no one is looking, Sing like no one can hear you, and Love like you can't be hurt!" Isn't that so awesome?!

OK, back to the topic of this post.... Addiction's. There is a really good book, actual several Christian books out there that talk about Addictions, but the best one I have found is the Bible. One in particular that I am looking at right now is, "Stop the Madness, Finding Freedom from Addictions." by Serendipity House. It is the Picking Up the Pieces Series.

I won't make this too long, but I can tell you from experience, that addiction is not a fun place to be. It is a very long, lonely, isolating place, and if you are BLESSED enough to pull through it, it is only because of God's Mercy and Grace! It is nothing that you did, or another person did for you, but only through the Grace of God, I repeat! God loves you, and will use other people to put in your path in helping your recovery, but please understand and give the credit to whom it is due!

The twelve steps are great, if taken with a Christian concept. The first step of Admitting your need, of admitting your life is unmanageable! This is the time to get on your knee's and pray for guidance from HIM! n Idolatry and addiction go hand in hand, putting the desire to get high, above Him and everything else, including yourself. Admitting this sin to him, is a first step to getting free!

A verse that I really like, is this...."It was for freedom that Christ set us free, therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to the yoke of slavery. Gal 5:1 NASB

I would love to share feedback with you on this topic, I can say that there is a life to live outside of this, for HIM to do His work. It is our responsibility to share with others, and to try and help by using our lives as an example. It's not for us, to keep our experiences, both Good or Bad, to ourselves. So share your story....

Peace

I am here to share and help you along your way.

Renewing of My Mind....

I am re-reading "The Power of Positive Thinking", by Norman Vincent Peale. He is an amazing author who has a God given talent of expressing with words the importance of how to live life thinking positive! In a secular world filled with sin, the art of having joy can be easily lost. It is when you put God's amazing love and trust in all of your circumstances is it when you are truly in a good place. It is often a "covered" art of positive thinking, and sometimes the "how to be happy" is revealed to us in prayer, trust, having and building of our Faith, and seeking HIS Knowledge.

One of the greatest verses to know and really absorb, is this one. "I can do all things through Christ which strengthen me." Phil 4:13. To really build your confidence, and knowledge of things, know this, God can and will do amazing things through you, that otherwise would be impossible to do. God's ability and grasp of things is so beyond our wildest comprehension. His ways are never our ways!

Norman Vincent Peale says in his book," The greatest secret for eliminating the inferiority complex in ourselves, is to fill your mind with Faith. Develop tremendous faith in God and that will give you realistic faith in yourself." He goes on to more detail by saying, "The acquiring of dynamic faith is accomplished by prayer, reading of the Bible, and practicing its faith techniques. The ability to possess and utilize faith must be studies and practiced through God to gain perfection!"

Fill your mind with affirmations of God, make this your first source of reflection, answers to your questions. Filling your mind with positive things and the releasing of the negativity in your life will create a life changing situation. "Attitudes are more important than facts." Dr Karl Menninger once said.

A simple knowledge and belief that God is always with you, and will help you through your difficult situation. The ability and forethought to "give it over to Him, and let Him handle the situation", is often one of our most challenging and debilitating mistakes. We as humans, don't want to lose control, for we feel, if we lose the control,( that we never really had in the beginning), we will not be able to solve the problem. Hint, we were never to solve in the first place. Control and Fear go hand in hand.

The solution, Try Prayer Power.....

"You are dealing with the most tremendous power in the World when you pray" Seriously, think about this.... by simply talking to God, Wars have ended, lives have been saved, marriages have been healed! There is no greater gift to give someone else, than to pray for them!

Hoping to have planted a seed, until next time.
Peace and Blessings to you

Genesis

Interesting class that I am starting tomorrow with Liberty University. I was dong the reading today, and here is an interesting thought. God created day and night on the first day, hence, light and darkness but the Sun and Moon were not created until the fourth day. Where did the light come from? It had to have been light from outside the earth's surface.

Adam and Eve were also vegetarian's, which makes sense, but I guess I never really thought about it before, since we are such "meat eaters."

Evolution is interesting, It is amazing that even in the 1970 era when I was in school, and prayers were still allowed. It was still taught that man evolved from Ape's.... okay, really?

Well I guess that's enough for right now.
Peace.

Our Only Requirement....

I had an amazing moment this morning, I opened up my homework to start ahead of the week, and started reading. I have felt like I was living under a large gray cloud, between God and myself. I just didn’t feel like I was filled with the Holy Spirit.

I started reading, and you know with all these responsibilities and requirements of things we have to get done, the stresses of trying to get through each problem of the day. You know life.

I realized, that God does not require us to solve the world's problems,

~~~~~~~~HE requires only that you give yourself 100 per cent to God, and love him more than anything or anyone else.~~~~~~
That means you put HIM above anything, every person, every burden, every stressor etc TRUSTING him to finish the end result.
He is so amazing, He requires that We just make the commitment to love Him and Put HIM First. Repentance gives you the reset button to be able to do that.
Once you have Hit the reset button, (repent) it’s all Good... you are only responsible to do what HE requires of you.
The proof of our love for him will show up when we are obedient to His Commandments.
The second part of this, remembering and compliance to HIS Words. He is so awesome, he even gives us help right then and there, with the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit helps us to remember what HIS Words are.  (John 14;26) cause He knows we wont remember all of what His Words are in the time that we will need them, so He is there.
So hoping I have not rambled, I (we) have been given another shot to get it right, another day, another blessing, to DO in your day WHAT REALLY MATTERS.....
NOT, the problems of work, bills to be paid, what clothes the kids will wear to school, distractions, distractions etc.
But people, did I take this day to teach Alexis and Elijah and others when given the right opportunity How to pull to God so they can have the same thing that I am describing, so that they know what His Truths are, so they don’t get snagged up in the devil, or temptation, when they are alone in a stressful situation and don’t know where or who to get help from,
Real life stuff........
This has been an eye opening for me... and a renewed sense of what we are truly here for. I love you.
Its been amazing to me as I study these "textbooks" that its not how I apply them to pass the test at liberty, but how I pass the test of life!
I feel differently now......
You know God has a way of really working out things if you take a minute to put it all in perspective, and really listen to what He is saying to you. It is amazing that we all live in this fast-paced, evil, world that the enemy is very good at keeping us so  busy, distracted, and preoccupied with things that we don't see the big picture! In a material world, where money, greed, and the constant reach for more, more, more..... I have wondered, do we really even know what we are reaching for? Does time go by so fast and we are in such a rush, that when we do take the time to slow down, we don't even remember what we were reaching for to begin with?
We look around the people we love are aging, the new material things we purchased are old, our children are no longer babies, yesterday is the past, and today is a rush for things we are hoping will happen tomorrow. We surround ourselves with people we have no close relationships with, often due to a career, or an opportunity that we think we may have, while the people we love are often waiting for the opportunity to spend the precious time with us that we so busily push away.
I learned a powerful lesson today, our Bishop was talking about a person's significance. The questions that we spend a lifetime asking ourselves, do I matter? What am I here for? We develop such a longing for a positive answer that we will often seek it anywhere, from anyone...... The answer to that is yes, we matter to God first, We are significant to him, and the happiness to life is knowing and stopping here in our search for the answer to our "significance" issues.
Yes, we matter to the family and friends that we have relationships with. The problem starts when we forget that even those that are close to us love us, we are dealing with people with just as much issue with their  own insignificance  issues, as well as their own imperfections.  We often make the mistake in building and relying on others to show to us that we are important and matter, and when they fail to do that, we begin to internalize that how they make us feel, must be true. Until we realize, that we are are internalizing unhealthy thoughts that should not have even been materialized as our feelings, can we begin to realize the true source of our strength, is only found in God.
Sometimes, I have to look around and realize that it is not the responsibility of another person to provide  your own self-worth, and when you can put all this in to perspective, you can get back to the importance that God has placed in your life, by having relationships with other people. This is the distraction that the enemy creates, confusion, to who and what roles people should play in our lives, and what part we will play in theirs.  The problem is created when the value of the relationship, or the role in which it will play in our lives becomes twisted,  and the desire to please them is more than it is to please God. We must realize that the people in our lives, and the relationships we have with them is a gift from God and it should not be a source of pain in our lives. Take the time today to thank God for His love for you, and the people that he has placed in your life, while they are here. There is always a time and season for that relationship, treasure it, and treasure Him.
Back to the Basics: Where to Begin your Study of God
Occasionally, I will share with you other peoples writings, especially if it based on importance or relevant to following God. I have had a few ask where do I begin? This is the understanding of the basic principles needed to begin to comprehend and live our a life long relationship with Jesus Christ. It is my hope that this enlightens you and gives you a place to start in finding the answers to what Jesus is all about. This is the writings of Bishop B. Courtney McBath, my Bishop at my church Calvary Revival Church.
Basic Biblical Principles
Definition of Principle:
Greek: Fundamental, initial, something orderly in arrangement, element, rudiment.
Latin: A beginning
English Dictionary: A general truth or law, basic to other truths. A rule of personal conduct, that which is inherent in anything, determining its nature. A primary source or fundamental cause .(example: principle of gravity or relativity.)
Therefore, we define biblical principle as: that beginning, primary source of truth which results in Godly character, or determines our nature. (The Bible or Word of God is our source, our principle.)
The secret is receiving in good ground, "for the earth bringeth fort fruit of herself. Mark 4:28
Things to Remember:
The Word of God is our Beginning (seed) source of truth that will shape in us Godly Character and solid biblical principles.
The Word of God is our foundation. There are two types of foundations: rock and sand. (Matt 7:24-27, Luke 6:47-49. The Word is that Rock.
Soul winning and bearing the fruit of the Spirit are two signs of solid basic principles. In the beginning, it is  not soul winning, that is reproductive result of bearing fruit, while bearing fruit is the result of receiveing basic biblical principles (Word) in good ground.
We are to produce the Fruit of theSpirit, (gal. 5:22-24) If we produce the fruit (the spirit,) then we will reproduce souls after our own kind. example: Love
Love is a beginning principle. 1 John 3:11
Is our fruit remaining? (John 15:16) Determine if the Word is still there. (Mark 4:15-19)
The fruit will not remain if the Word does not.
Are we receiving the Word? if we are not producing fruit and if our fruit is temporary this indicates a lack of receiving.
Remember:
The Word of God is our beginning (seed) source of truth that will shape in us Godly Character and solid biblical principles.
The Word of God is our foundation: sand and rock.
Taken from Calvary Revival Church Foundation Book.
B. Courtney McBath. www.crcglobal.org
All Bible verses are from the NIV
Mark 4:28-29
28All by itself the soil produces grain--first the stalk, then the head, then the full kernel in the head. 29As soon as the grain is ripe, he puts the sickle to it, because the harvest has come."
Mark 7:24-27 and Luke 6:47-49
24Jesus left that place and went to the vicinity of Tyre.G He entered a house and did not want anyone to know it; yet he could not keep his presence secret. 25In fact, as soon as she heard about him, a woman whose little daughter was possessed by an evilH spirit came and fell at his feet. 26The woman was a Greek, born in Syrian Phoenicia. She begged Jesus to drive the demon out of her daughter.
27"First let the children eat all they want," he told her, "for it is not right to take the children's bread and toss it to their dogs." (sand example)
Luke 6:47-49
47I will show you what he is like who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice. 48He is like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built. 49But the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete." (rock example)
Mark 4:14  14The farmer sows the word
Mark 4:20. 20Others, like seed sown on good soil, hear the word, accept it, and produce a crop--thirty, sixty or even a hundred times what was sown."
John 15:2  2He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunesA so that it will be even more fruitful.
John 15:5 5"I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing
Mark 4:14-19
14The farmer sows the word. 15Some people are like seed along the path, where the word is sown. As soon as they hear it, Satan comes and takes away the word that was sown in them. 16Others, like seed sown on rocky places, hear the word and at once receive it with joy. 17But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away. 18Still others, like seed sown among thorns, hear the word; 19but the worries of this life, the deceitfulness of wealth and the desires for other things come in and choke the word, making it unfruitful.
John 15:4 . 4Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.
Galations 5:22-26  22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. 25Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. 26Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.
1 John 3:11
11This is the message you heard from the beginning: We should love one another
John 15:8-9
8This is to my Father's glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.
9"As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love
John 15:16-17
16You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit--fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in my name. 17This is my command: Love each other.
Hebrew 5:12-14
. 12In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God's word all over again. You need milk, not solid food! 13Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness. 14But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.
Sanctifying Grace, What is it?
I read a really interesting chapter today referring to Paul, he stated " For I am the least of the apostles and do not even deserve to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them- yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me. (1 Cor. 15:9-10)
Because Paul knew that he did not deserve and could never earn the privileges given him, the pressure was off him, Paul was freed to be exactly who he was and do precisely what he was called to do. Grace covered him, as undeserving as he, and all of us God's grace constantly covers up daily, weekly....
We are also undeserving, and we keep falling, holiness causes us to get back up, repent, and continue marching for God's Glory.
Our hope is this promise: "Where sin increased, grace increased all the more, so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. " Romans 5:20-21
"By divine grace, we will grow into godly persons. As we submit ourselves to God and yield our will to His, the holiness he desires of us will gradually come.
Spiritual Journey Day 4- I am getting it!
The last couple of days I have been really digging into what God defines as "Holiness." In a great desire to please HIM, I am really seeking what His Word says about this, His thoughts, His aspirations for us, all of that.
Reading 2 Peter 3:8, it says," But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like a day. 9. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance." He goes on to say but the day is coming, and we are to live our lives, "Holy and Godly as we look forward to the day that HE comes for us.
I wasn't sure what Holiness to him meant, and what qualities should I be seeking out. 2 Peter 2:5 states "For this very reason, (to participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption of the world caused by evil) , make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; 6. and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness. 7. and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. 8. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Seems pretty simple right? Okay, I admit, its going to be a lifelong process. I read something yesterday that your life is a journey. Your past is your past, and although will not change the road already taken, your future with God's Grace and Mercy could change the outcome. I know that because of His grace, I don't have to dwell in yesterday's past. I use it as a teaching tool, but have learned to move on to "bigger and better things" that the Lord has for me.
Sanctification, ah such a big word with so much meaning. Its a journey, a life long journey, of the process of Holiness, but deeper than that. It is described as, "more than a mere moral reformation of character, brought about by the power of the truth, it is the work of the Holy Spirit bringing the whole nature more and more under the influence of the new gracious principles implanted in the soul of regeneration." The office of the Holy Spirit, in the plan of redemption to carry on this work. (1 Cor 6:11, 2 Thes. 2:13).  Perfect sanctification is not attainable in this life ( 1 Kings 8:46, Prov 20:9, Eccl. 7:20, James 3:2,1 and 1 John 1:8). "The more holy a man is, the more humble, self-renouncing, self-abhorring, and the more sensitive to every sin he becomes, and the more closely he clings to Christ."
Will I ever come even remotely close a fraction of what I seek to be? I don't know, but I am going to keep trying, praying, seeking him, repenting when I have to, and Glorifying His name. I know that it is a daily walk, but I also realize that God purposely made it that way, so that you would continuously  seek him daily!
Just a few notes I thought I would share.
Peace
God, Can I Ask You Something? Spiritual Journey 3 (I Think)...Holiness
God, it's me again.... Can I ask you something? Why is it so hard to be good? I mean really. I am talking about the good that I need to be, to be in your presence? Not just nice every once in a while, or saying hello to the neighbor. But on that deep core level, the conscious, the character. Do you think because I obviously struggle, and was never aware how much I struggled, until I really tried.... Does this make me a bad person? Let's be real... I am having a hard time being nice!
I am reading the Bible, alot! Not just for my assignments, but getting into it you... As you know, I am reading about 15 books at a time, but one of the ones I am reading now, " A Woman's Journey toward Holiness." by Sheila Cragg talks about  Holiness in Chapter one. Week one, states "Respond to Christ's Call to be Holy.
"But just as he who called you is Holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: Be holy, because I am holy." 1 Peter 1:15-16.
She starts by talking about a locked door, and fumbling with the key and lock trying to open. She writes, "an ordinary experience, such as trying to unlock the door, may be the means by which the Lord makes Himself known to us. God is knocking, wait... I haven't straightened up the house yet!
"Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me." Rev. 3:20
Reality check: God is knocking, but you may not be ready. It's a good thing, God will meet us right where we are at, and is Patient! But he doesn't change his standards. We have to be up to His Standards.
The book goes on to say, that we will know its Him knocking, by the fact once we open the door, He isn't expecting perfection, but a simple humble, and honest asking of , "Lord, help me to be the godly person you desire to me to be." If your like me, you may be still waiting for the list of standards to be passed around, all joking aside, you may not have a clue whats next~
Attempting to lead a holy life is similar to the lock that is stuck or difficult to operate. There are those who have no problem and move right through the process, and those that may struggle a bit. It's okay.. Keep trying!
"Once we get that door open, we will realize that Jesus has been speaking to us all along, through His Word, or a persistent spiritual yearning. He is making us aware of our need for a deep personal communion with Him, awakening within us the desire to become more like Him and our longing for a deeper devotional life." (emphasis mine.)
The Word says, "Ask and it will be given you, seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened." (Matt 7:7)
What do you say once the door is opened? I am asking for a desire to be Holy (getting real here, there are days, I don't even want to be), seek after a fruitful, spiritual filled life. Knock until, "the door of your heart opens to the Lord." Letting Him come in and transform my life.
One final note for today, the book brought up a good point that I was just thinking.... OK, for me, I will have to open the door a few times! It addresses that issue! It states, "To lead a holy life, we need to keep on turning the key, keep on listening for the click until the key catches, and keep on pushing the door until it opens. How many times do we unlock doors in our lifetime? We must repeat the process of seeking to lead a holy life time and time again."
Ok, I am going to break that down for you, its more than a "several times in a lifetime" thing for opening the doors, it is a daily, minute by minute conversation with God sometimes, "ok, I am here again, Help me!" God is so good, as many times as I have had this conversation with Him, he has never gotten impatient or harsh with me. It has always been me, being harder on myself than need be!
Back tomorrow, for the continuation on this lock thing, next  it will go into, "Receiving God's Grace."
Until tomorrow,
Peace
<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://thewordasilearnit.blogspot.com/2011/05/god-can-i-ask-you-something-spiritual.html' title='God, Can I Ask You Something? I know that He loves me, and I realize that the limitation is on my end. He is open and willing, and standing right there for me, but I am not near where I want to be. I envy those I know who seem to have a great relationship with God, you can feel the inner peace and warmth all around them. I want that Peace!
It's amazing, I am a University student majoring in Biblical Studies, but I don't have a relationship? I wonder why? What if I lived in a country that didn't even know he was, or worse yet, knew who he was, and forbid us to love him? I can't imagine not having the freedom to read my Bible, and sadly, I must admit I was ashamed to read the Bible in public here in the US, for fear of what people would think?! Wow, who care's anyways? Those who give you a hard time about reading the Bible, are the one's we are commanded to share His Word with.
Now that I am a University student majoring in Biblical Studies, I must admit, I am missing something; something that I don't know how to obtain, but feel like God and I could be alot closer. Understand this, this is my fault. He is open, and willing, and standing there with His arms wide open. Is it satan holding me back, or is it me? Is it an addiction, or fear of having to do what my flesh doesn't want to do. Sounds to me like selfishness. It's funny it probably is selfishness, but I want so badly to have the relationship with Jesus. It sounds to me after reading this, that the problem is me, and what am I going to do about it. What if I change? I know I will have what I am looking for, love!
What If? Every once in a while when I'm at the gym I'll be using some weight equipment where you determine how much weight you'll be lifting by moving a stopper up and down on a set of weights ... I nonchalantly move the stopper from forty pounds to around seventy pounds so the next person will surely think to himself, That guy's got some impressive triceps ...That's what we do most of our lives — we try to reinforce this perception that we really are strong...
In Paul's Second letter to the Corinthians he spoke about how acknowledging our weakness makes room for Christ's power [see 2 Cor. 12:9-10]. [Also, Paul reminds followers in Galatia] who had stopped living in the Spirit's power and had started to depend on themselves how foolish that is ... It offers an area for the reader to write out there thoughts, and  questions behind each day for further thought and study.
The  second part of the book is the best part. It offers the reader biblically sound  scripture and practical advice for fight spiritual warfare on a daily basis. It  describes the methods and ways of Satan, and ways  to overcome his  attacks.
The author educates, enlightens, rejuvenates, and  inspires the reader to seek God for power and prayer.
I was very  impressed with this book, and recommend it to anyone who wants to seek God's  power in their life.
I received this book complimentary from  the publisher the WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group book review program. I  was not required to write anything other than my honest opinion of this book.  The opinions I have expressed are my own. Rahab was convinced that God was with the children of Israel, so she hid their spies in her house when they were being pursued by their enemies. When the soldiers questioned Rahab about the whereabouts of the spies, she said "they went that way", thus leading them in the wrong direction. A blatant lie to save the spies' lives.
Wow, How many times have I thought about that story, and wondered what I would have done. Probably, the same thing that Rahab. The Bible says that God did not approve of her lying, even though her intent was good. Rahab was saved by Faith!
As a mom, I can honestly say that I would do anything to protect them. Granted, If it was something criminal that they did, I would not, but as a mom, honestly, there have been times I have lied for them. Little white lies? A Lie is a Lie, regardless. Thank God for his Mercy and his Grace!
John the Baptist said in the Bible that even though he wants to do good, he still messes up. Considering we are all born with a sin nature, sometimes its easier to be evil than it is to be Good. I say this, because, humans have to make a conscious decision to do the right thing, but evil comes naturally to us all. Thanks Eve!
Just wanted to share my thoughts, and ask yours?
Traci
Did You Know You Can Download a Kindle Reader and Read the Books for Free?
I have a Kindle and absolutely LOVE it! I download books to it on a daily basis by going to Amazon. com and then search for the free Kindle Books. After I bought my kindle, I learned that you could download the reader on to your PC, Phone, IPAD all for nothing, So really I didn't have to buy a Kindle, even though I love the ability to take my Kindle with me.
My husband recently bought me an IPAD, which I love as well. I am able to access all my books on there too! To be honest, the normal paid price for a book on Kindle is around $9.99, but I have bought very little and have not spent much on books!
You can also access Google Books, as well for free. Google has a large selection of great books. If you go to search on your Kindle, you are able to access the Internet, and Kindle gives you your own email account with Kindle.
Just thought I would share.
Traci
Tried Out A Local Church
We have been going to CRC forever, but the unfortunate part as that even though we LOVE the church, it is about an hour away, so a Sunday Church Day is an all day affair! I wanted the kids to be more active and attend church on a regular basis, so I thought we would try out a local church, Baptist Church. It was a very nice church, they have a lot of activities for the whole family. AWANA for the kids on Wednesday, Ladies and Men's Bible Studies and Sunday School/ Bible Study before the actual Church service! We will attend the weekly activities and plan on attending 2 Sundays there, and two across the water to CRC.
Well that's the plan for now anyways, I don't care as long as I am getting the Word in a Live Church!
I don't know if I told you, but I am a full-time student at Liberty University, working on my BS in Religion. "Many will say to Me on that day, `Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?' "And then I will declare to them, `I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness.' Matthew 7:21-23
In today's society perception is almost exclusive, what I mean is, a person can tell another person everything that they have ever read or heard about the bible, but if that person who is sharing the message, own lifestyle is less than desirable, then everything said about the message loses validity. Society perceives to be a "Christian" you must do certain things, routines, beliefs, customs or have particular traits to prove you are a Christian. Religion should I say, is often more important perception wise to the non-believer that the actual content of the message.
To be completely honest, it is sometimes difficult to teach and share the Word in the hateful, sinful, world that we live in. It is almost an Anti-Christ. I remember as a child, praying in school, and now people are afraid to acknowledge the truth, that God is who he says he is.
Some specific reasons that people reject the Christian gospel is as follows:
Abuse and misrepresentation of the churches and pastors/ church officials of authority. It is hard to send in your money, or support the church, when the Pastor has been sentenced to prison for tax evasion. This is more common than not, and it takes away from the true message, that God is Good, and HE is love
Science, simply biology for example. A child is taught of evolution, and Dinosaurs not the Adam and Eve Story, and Genesis, How God created the World in seven days.
Fear, or denial of the truth, people are "turned off" by the "Your going to Hell theory," Society today is a "me, me," society, and the thought of having to follow certain doctrine is denied by many. It is often construed of the Bible to be somewhat sexist, the misunderstanding of what roles woman played in the Bible for example.
Christians can help address these objections and better communicate the Christian gospel by setting a good example for a non-believer. Show him/her by example, how to live a Godly Lifestyle, share the truth's and promises that are for all people, in the Bible. When speaking to a person, make sure that what you are telling them is in line with what the Bible says. You are responsible to share the correct information with them. Honesty speaks heart, if you don't know the answer, say I don't know, let's find it together. Tell them about Jesus gift to all of us, and that Salvation is ours, if we ask for it. A lot of people, don't realize that they must ask for it.
What's in the Bible: Battle for the Promised Land DVD Review
I received a DVD from Tyndale House Publishing titled, “What’s in the Bible?” to review and give you our thoughts. My daughter Alexis and I watched it, and I must say that I was very impressed. Alexis sat still the whole time, and was very interested in the contents of the DVD.
I asked Alexis (age 11 years), if she would share with you what she learned and this is what she said. “What in the Bible is about the Old Testament. It taught me about the 12 parts of the Historical sections of the bible. I learned that this included Joshua, Judges, Ruth, First and Second Samuel, First and Second Kings, First and Second Chronicles, Ezra, Nehemiah, and Esther. The DVD was easy to follow, and very entertaining. I told my friend that she had to come over and watch it with me. I had already given my neighbor a certificate for the free DVD, so she said she wanted my copy! No way! My mom will order her a copy for her to keep.”
Alexis was very excited and she absolutely loved the Captain character and his singing in the Hot Air Balloon. As a mom, I knew that Alexis was getting good solid, biblical teaching from the DVD, and I would recommend that even younger children watch it.
This DVD can be found on www.whatsinthebible.com and at www.tyndale.com for more information about this DVD or others.
Can Anyone Relate?????
I just started teaching a Bible Study in my Ladies Bible Study Group called "Becoming More Than A Good Bible Study Girl ", by Lysa Terkeurst.
I have the biggest fear of losing either my husband or any one of my children. It was at the time how I was feeling, and since there has been a new season in my life, it reality impact is somewhat diminished.
I wrote this in my Grief Group, but for those still struggling....hope it helps.
Wednesday, September 16, 2009 | A Rambling story You know you read so many stories, and know personally people who have lost someone they loved. You not being initially affected, say the standard clique , "I am so sorry, or Is there anything I can do for you?". Well of course, you have to say thank you... but inside, you are thinking, (but I actually said this to someone), well you could bring my brother back to me, that would be nice."  Until it happens to you, you empathize with them, and think about them every once in awhile, wondering how they are doing, and go on with your life.  Then Wham, something tragic happens to you, someone or something took your heart and soul away from you. I thank God literally for the "shell shock" stage, or the numbing stage... because literally I know the human brain could not handle the impact of something like that all at once. In my opinion, it would literally "blow your mind." So you are numb, desperate for anything to make this pain go away, and to bring your loved one back to you. For one more time, or chance to change the circumstances. Other than self-medicating, being numb is the only time when you experience something but don't feel the real impact of the situation. Then all of a sudden, this protective mechanism goes away, your out there with pain raw to the bone. You literally feel like your bones are crying out, shrieking with pain. unimaginable, until it happens to you. So you barely function, but yet there is so much responsibility, so many things to take care of.... your not prepared, for the minimum amount of days you have before your loved one is buried, or taken "further away." Why is this happening? There are so many people, you think, out there, that don't even care about their family. Why did you take mine? So, as normal as it really is, your faith is tested. You are angry at everyone, God, sometimes family, friends. You are also alone. Because by this time, you feel like your friends have abandoned you. Not really because they don't care about you, its more so because they are uncomfortable with your sadness and despair, and do not know what to say, for they know that there is nothing they can say to you to make you feel better, so they don't say anything at all, slowly disappearing.....  Time passes by slowly, life goes on, your family expects you to keep it together, and you try to make "normalcy" a thing of the present. You still have to work, pay bills, be there for your other children, and family... People will mention a "new normal" to you, and it will anger you when you hear it, what is a new normal. Get used to the term, it sticks. Its important for a person who has lost a loved one to "talk about and keep their memory alive," its a way of natural healing, whether or not you are aware of it or not. The outside world remember, is uncomfortable with your displaying of emotions, and needing to still talk about your loved one. They expect you to move on, come on, its been.......months, years..... remember these are the same people, who I wrote about in the beginning. The one's who empathize with you but really havent experienced it themselves. But hold on, you still have to be you, you still have needs and feelings and healing to meet. Its important to find an "outside venue" to do this... Daily Strength, Bereavement Groups, Compassionate Friends, if you have lost a child... Stay connected, I joined a group called Grief Net, when I lost my brother, eight years ago, and it was a group of about 20 people who had lost a sibling themselves, we emailed, communicated, some visited through the years, and even today I receive emails from them. We have gone through Death, births, marriages, divorces.... you name it.... We no longer need the connection that we did in the beginning now, but our friendship grew. So my advise to you, connect, grieve at your own pace. If your not ready to pack up things and discard of get rid of their precious belongings, Don't.... People remember only empathize with you... Don't let anyone or anything rush your grief, because guess what? From experience, I can tell you, you will take that class again. You cannot go around grief, it is something you must do, step by step, daily.... I can tell you that the to the bone pain goes away. You don't feel like you are going to just die, literally you start to slowly breathe again on your own. There is always that feeling, the pit of your stomach, that achiness in your gut..... that never goes away.... just lessens.... There will be good days and bad, some days after eight years, I feel like I did in the beginning.... but most of the days, I can look at his picture, and smile and remember how much I love and miss my baby boy....... Until I see you again.... Peace.. To all others reading this, I know how you feel, it is awful.... I am here for you..... It is often during this special time, that the phone will ring, priorities and tasks get in the way and etc... you get the point, something takes us away from giving our kids our full attention. A is 10 now, and is such a sweet, beautiful girl! E is seven years, and he is so smart, all boy, and yet very sweet and cuddly... Precious times! I absolutely love the age that they are at now, wishing we could stay at this time frame a long while. If you are lucky enough to have children, and they manage to survive the pre-teen and teenager stage, your on your way! My daughter K is finishing up her freshman year at college. This was mind-blowing, for she had never left home before, and now she was out on her own! Who is going to be there to protect her? The most highest Jesus Christ.
I often look around at others, and watch them interact with their families, its a universal thing, no matter what language you speak! The only thing different during this time, is the language we communicate with.
I hope and pray that I never have an tragedies with my children. I just wouldn't know how to make it.... I often wonder why he takes from some parents, and not others. I cant imagine what my mom went through when she lost my brother at 24 years old......
guess that's it for now....
Peace
I worry about my son......
My seventeen year old son has made some very poor choices in regards to staying out of trouble. First it was something minor, then it easily escalated to Felonies! Not just one, but several. Ever since he was little, he would talk about going into the military when he grew up, I don't think that will happen now. I will find out on Monday, how much time in the Juvenile Prison system he will get. K is looking at 12 to 24 months! The blessing in all this, is that K will get his GED and because he still is a Juvenile, he will be offered rehabilitation programs including vocational training. K is really good with his hands, and loves to fix stuff.
K lived with us until he was ten, and begged me to let him live with his dad! A very heartbreaking decision to be made, now it feels like that same decision being repeated over and over.... It is hard to explain, you want SO much for your child, and when they fall short its disheartening.
I am still blessed, I unlike so many others, still have my child here! I thank God every day for his Mercy and his Grace, in protecting my son,,,, K put himself in some really dangerous situations, only God..... only God...
Well I guess I have rambled, please pray that he walks with Jesus, the way he did when he was younger.......
How to Reach Your Full Potential for God Book Review
How to Reach Your Full Potential for God Book Review
I have been familiar with Charles Stanley since I was a little girl! My grandmother read his books, and watched his television shows. I admired the calmness and confidence of his teachings, and he adored his mother! LOL
This book "How to Reach Your Full Potential for God" explains to us, in his easy to understand method teaching that we are all here for a purpose, and that we are giving the tools that we need to fulfill his purpose. He also show us, if we draw near to God during this transformation, that God will teach us with stirred passion all that we need to know.
The first thing he ponders his readers, is by asking us, "Do you want God's best?
In his book, he gives clear concise chapters on what is necessary and in what order to take it. Some of the topics include getting ready: a clear mind and a clear heart.
Mr. Stanley's guidance in having a healthy body, balanced schedule and right relationships, puts us in a position to excel. I truly think this is a great book, and would recommend it to anyone interested.
Real with Myself
March 16, 2010
Real with Myself
Got to tell ya, I want to share with you, my real feelings, and thoughts. I have been in a wierd "funk" for the last couple of weeks... I can't really explain where it came from, but it was almost like throwing a big, heavy tarp over me... I could see out, but really couldnt grasp or reach outside of this area, for it was such a heavy weight on me. Subconsciously, I knew something was not quite right. I was outside myself, felt differently towards my husband, felt almost bothered by him?! What in the world! I was having such a difficult time, believing him, following him as our leader of the family. It was almost like I fought against, everything he said. One thing I have learned through all this, is your thoughts are only your thoughts, some of them are not even realistic. (Thank you Jesus, for your Mercy and Grace on me, for only HE knew where I could of ended up, if I were judged on what I thought.) Thank you Jesus!
The last lesson out of this trial, was that what you say has a tremendous impact on another person, whether or not it is true or if you really meant it, if you say it, that other person receiving your words assumes it to be your truth and takes it too heart! For some unknown reason, I guess I could blame it on "anger", or really it was just shear meanness. I told my husband, who is my everything, that I was tired of "it", and the only reason I was still with him, was because of my kids! What? As soon as I said it, I knew I was in trouble. The look and pain on his face, ugh..... I immediately had an inner panic of the devastation I had caused... How was I going to fix this? As shameful as it is, you know even at that time, I didnt even take the thought or time to reach out to Jesus.... A perfect opportunity, but what it turned into was more devastation. I came to realize without Jesus in your life, and marriage, if two people stay together long enough, they will end up divorced. Mind you, I said that two people without Jesus in their life; will keep on hurting and tearing down the walls of your marriage, family. A panic overtakes you, God help me, I dont want to tear my family apart, devastate my kids...continue the curse of divorce among my generations.
Moving fast forward to this morning, I was getting ready to facilitate the bible study I lead on Tuesday morning. Imagine that, I am leading other ladies with all the burden I have put on myself and family, all because of my lack of initiative (not sure what else to call it, stupidity? ) to humble myself and reach out to God!
What was I possibly going to lead this morning? I had no energy and just felt exhausted! On the way there, I repented, and asked God to help me through this all. So much to say for a little five minute car ride, but after that, I felt the walls coming down.. Joy that I havent felt in awhile, at least the last two weeks anyways....
Bible study went well, you really cant go wrong with Beth Moore leading you..... well this is so long, I guess I am wondering, anyone else out there feeling like I did?
Book Review- Living With Confidence in a Chaotic World by David Jeremiah
This is a new book written by the author. It starts out describing how the World is in such terrible times, and how the Bible predicted that this would happen. It talks about the time leading up to Jesus's return on Earth. He describes as Christians, that we do not have to live by the principles of this world. He gives ten concepts or idea's on how we can survive and prosper well in the current state of the World. The first concept of  staying calm , gives us the scenerio that trials and tribulations are going to come, its how we "respond' to them that makes the difference. He described that Jesus understands what pressure is, and at certain times in his life he felt distressed at situations that were going on around him. It describes in John 14:1-6 that he was the way, the truth, and the life and that no one comes to the father except through him. The author desribe taht Jesus was the "ultimate in comfort." He states that Jesus had asked us to believe in a person, Himself, and to believe in a place, describing the mansions in heaven. The third thing Jesus asked us was to believe in a promise, a plan. The second principle is staying compassionate. He describe what the "essence and expression of compassion was, and how to live that lifestyle while here. The author was very thorough in describing how to exercise compassion and gave biblical examples that I was able to follow along in my Bible. The third concept of Staying constructive talks and showed examples of how edification and it not being about us, would transpire into what we pursued, not simply what we talked about. The fourth principle of staying challenged explained what the purpose of being diligent was all about. He went on to talk about Diligence in a way describing the priorities, possibilities and examples of what it was. The fifth principle described how it is important to stay connected to one another, and what the incentives would be if you did so. The sixth principle described how to stay centered on God, by setting our hearts and minds on Him. The seventh principle of staying confident in this crazy world, and again gave Biblical example to follow. The last few principles of staying consistent, staying committed, and staying convinced showed me the possibilites and the predicted outcome of those who followed God's laws and embraced his love. This was a very good, well written, easy to understand book and I would recommend it to a new christian as well as a mature christian.
New Christian Bible Study Group
I have felt like I needed to start a bible study, for in this area, there are actually very few. Don't ask me how that came about, it truly was not from me.
For those that might be interested in joining our studies, please go to this link and sign up. You see, we decided to take the RV down to North Carolina for the weekend, and we rented a tow dolly to pull the jeep behind. We wanted to see how much pull the RV could handle. Although the weekend was cold and rainy,  we stayed one night and decided to head back to VA early. We were traveling down the two lane highway when around a turn, a woman decided to travel in the left lane heading towards us head on! My husband, a very good driver, managed to swerve the Rv off the road onto a side road missing the Car. God's Grace!
On the same trip, the jeep was strapped to the tow dolly by the front tires with a band that overlapped each tire, secured by a "teeth" mechanism that locked the device into place. Somehow, during our travels, the front left tire came undone, and not only was slipping off the dolly, but the right tire decided to join in the effects. Had we not stopped for breakfast to check on this, this vehicle would have slipped off the dolly onto the freeway, God only knows what would have happened.  God's Grace and Mercy, again, twenty minutes later.
I dont care what people say, after this weekend, I know that God's Grace and Mercy is alive in well. Not only did we return to Va, but later that night as it was quiet, I realized that things could have turned out alot different than they had.
My daughter and I prayed for safety before our trip, and I know God heard our prayers, as we prayed in Faith that all would return safe. We did, again, only by God's Grace!
Blessings and Peace to you all.
How Do I Properly Pray?
God requires us to have open communication with him in the form of prayer. Prayer is your way of talking to God. God requires openness and honesty from you when you pray.
If you abide in me, and MY words abide in you, you will ask what you desire and it shall be done for you.
                 John 15:7
All I have to do is Ask? Yes, but there are conditions that have to be met when praying.
1.  Must ask in Jesus Name. ( John 14: 13-14)
2. Must abide in Christ.  (  John 15:7)
3. Must ask in Faith.     ( James 1:5)
4. Must be specific about what you are asking for.     (Matthew 6:8)
5.  Must ask according to his Will.   (1 John 5:14)
6.  Must be confident     ( 1 John 5:14)
7. Expect a miracle     (Ephesians 3:20)
8.  Keep his Commandments     (1 John 3:21)
9.  You must do only those things pleasing in his sight.     (1 John 3:21)
Most of those things that are required are simple, you know what you want when you ask for it. Knowing his Will and keeping commandments, are revealed to you through his Word.
Things Not to Ask for......
1. You have not, because ye ask not (James 4:2)..... You cant have what you don't ask for, simple.
2.  You ask with wrong Motives.... (James 4:2)
3. You waver with doubt and/or unbelief.  (James 4:2)
4. You have unforgiveness in your own heart.  (Mark 11:25)
Prayer is one of the most important aspects of walking with God, however, it is the easiest one mishandled. In order to be effective, you must establish a pattern or a schedule of consistant prayer times. We often use busyness as an excuse, I take every quiet opportunity to talk to the Father, and often it is through out the day. Once you understand the power that prayer has, you will never lack in your committment to pray.  Trust me, obstacles and difficulties will come up, that is the plan of the enemy to keep you busy and distracted.
There are times when I don't feel like Praying or Interceding for others. I pray anyways.. I often will even explain how I am feeling, and pray for strength to get the Will. We have to be honest with God, he knows that sometimes we are just not "feeling it." I guarantee, if you press on and start Praising and Worshipping God, it will come to you. You will begin to feel Alive, and the closeness that you are looking for will be there.
We are all called to Intercede or pray on behalf of others. We are not required to pray for everyone, however, but we will, for those that have been put on your heart, and assigned to us for prayer. The Holy Spirit will guide you, and continue to pray for this person until the Holy Spirit releases us.
What is my Life's Purpose?
"It's in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for. Long before we first heard of Christ and got our hopes up, he had his eye on us, had designs on us for glorious living, part of the overall purpose he is working out in everything and everyone."
" In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will. " Ephesians 1:11
Rick Warren described it best in his book, "The Purpose Driven Life", that although we as humans often have a life-long soul searching of what our purpose in life is, we often struggle as to where to truly find the answer. The secular world is filled with self-help books on building the better you, discovering what makes you happy. Goal-setting... although these are great traits to building a better you, you will never find out what your purpose is this way.
The bible states, " Self-help is no help at all. Self-sacrifice is the way, my way, to finding yourself, your true self." It also says that through reading the Word, that you will find that "God's wisdom, goes deep into the interior of his purposes. It's not the latest message, but more like the oldest, what God determined as a way to bring out his best in us."
You could be like me, the rightful owner of about 300 self-help psychology owning books, or you could do what God says, and read it in his Word. The answers are all right there. You just have to pick it up and read about it. I have learned a part of reading the Word, is the prayer beforehand. I always pray for revelation and for understanding of what he is going to present to me when I read. I ALWAYS get a word from Him! You as a reader are looking for that Rhema word. Rhema words are that underlining message that is written directly to you, that you need to hear, during the present condition or time in your life. God's Word is a Living resource, it comes alive across the pages of the Book. Expect a message or something to come directly to you... I have learned that through "talking" with God, I have a wonderful friendship and love for him. I also want to mention that before I read his word, I pray for forgiveness or repent on anything sinful that I have done, and I also pray for revelation of a sin that I may not be aware that I have committed. Sin seperates God from us, I dont want to take any chances on not hearing from Him during this critical time.
For those like me, that are just starting to dive deep into the Word. I have been told that it is much easier to start reading the New Testament first. I have chosen to start in Luke and John, for the overall message I get from learning about Jesus is a solid foundation.
I hope this helps.
I found a Great Bible Study for Women!
I am so excited to finally have found a bible study just for me! What a relief, to finally learn to give all to him! Its not easy, i get distracted very easily, and want to do it my way but I am getting stronger with this minute by minute.
I just wanted to share....
Today I learned a valuable lesson.....
Today was one of the most important days for one of my children, her baptism and an important part of my family wasnt there by his own choice. I dont know why he decided not to go, and it blew me away because I knew of how important this event was to have been but it made me realize, the abnormal dependence I had on this person. God showed me today that He was the real God, the one who we are to depend on, and who will never let us down. I had placed very unreal, unfair "godlike" expectations on this person, who was just as human and frail as a human as I. God showed me today, that instead of searching for 1oo self help books on "how to read the bible" to pick up the bible and actually get the "real deal." and read it myself. I looked around my room to see all the books that I have, and most of them are other Christian Authors interpretation of what the word has been placed in their heart. I do believe that we should read and review other people's work, and pick up things that we may be lacking. I believe that Bishops and Pastor's are used as vessels to hear and give us the Word from God, but too often we place unrealistic expectations on them as well. I am learning although today was sad, I get it God. I got the message. I love you.
Becoming A Kingdom Woman
I wanted to share with you notes from my church, Calvary Revival Church... http://www.crcglobal.org. Bishop Courtney McBath. These are from his sermon.
If you would like to actually hear the sermon, here is the link
Pt 4: Don't Just Be A Woman...Be A Kingdom Woman
Notes taken from Joshua 2: 1-13
Bishops starts out by addressing the common view that is placed upon woman, "basically based on preference and opinion, not on truth and principle." What does that mean to me? It makes me think that others view woman as somewhat shallow, and superficial. Bishop McBath explains this further by stating " Too frequently the discussion of woman, is based on the lines of hair, dress, personality, and mannerisms." Jesus never view woman as having these qualities, in fact, he went on to talk about the value, redemption and faith of kingdom woman.
It doesn't surprise us that Rahab the harlot was the original kingdom woman in spite of or possibly because of her influential profession.
What are the characteristic of a Kingdom Woman?
1. Kingdom woman know how to pick a winner!
You change the way you pick your friends.
You change the way you pick who you love.
You change the way you choose a church.
2. Kingdom women know how to negotiate.
When you put God first, expect a blessing! MT. 6.33
When you connect with His Kingdom it saves your life.
She wasn't religious, she was desperate to save her family!
Negotiate for more than just you- family!
Don't Just be a woman... Be a Kingdom Woman.
Joshua 2.1-13
Hebrew 11:30-31. By faith Rahab the harlot did not perish along with those who were disobedient, after she had welcomed the spies in peace.
3. Kingdom women know what to say and when to say it. (verses 3, 4)
She was at war for her life with her enemy!
It doesn't need to be justified what she did- God put her on the roll call of Faith! Sarah, Moses's mother and women in general were applauded.
She used her words to turn her enemy around.
When you speak the word of faith, you turn the enemy around. You say what you believe, not what you see.
Kingdom women know how to protect the vision- words!
4. Kingdom women know how to get what they need from God! James 2:25-26
Verse 25 states, "In the same way, was not Rahab the harlot also justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out by another way? 26. For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead.
Kingdom women know how to stay connected to God! Mt. 15.26
No man ever came to Jesus after being called a dog!
Rahab became a Jewish proselyte because the God who saved her life deserved her allegiance!
Kingdom women will talk to him about what they don't understand. Jn. 4.7
No man ever argued with Jesus one on one!
Kingdom women put actions with their talk! Mt. 9.20
No man ever crawled to Jesus!
Joshua 2:18-19
"18, unless, when we come into the land, you tie this cord of scarlet thread in the window through which you let us down, and gather to yourself into the house your father and your mother and your brothers and all your father's household." The name of the book is "Break the Generation Curse", simply written by Marilyn Hickey. I had often thought that there must be some sort of curse in my family, why else would there be 9 generations of male alcoholics in my family? Thats an aweful lot, but I had often wondered why the women really werent affected by Alcohol, but then I realized that alot of the woman in my family had abused medication. I started reading in the bible about curses in Deuteronomy 27 & 28 about the different types of curses, and who actually brings on these curses. Is it God? I wanted to know. It stated in the book, that one of the big curses comes from people who rebel against their parents. I know for me, I did alot of rebelling while I was a teenager, but I think it really means something deeper than that. There is also a curse on cruelty: "Cursed be he that maketh the blind to wander out of the way." Deuteronomy 27:18. This is where the curse of violence is started. No wonder the "secular" world even realizes that most abuse is past down from generation to generation, alcohol, sexual, and violence.
But how do we fix this and bind these generational curses? The bible plainly states in Matthew 12:29, "or else how can one enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? and then he will spoil his house. Note that in this scripture, house can mean generation.
So as Mrs. Hickey states, " In order to break the curse of the generations behind us- their habits, sins, physical weaknesses- you have to go in and bind the strong man who has brought that curse from generation to generation." Who do we call the strong man in this, Satan is he.
What does she say to say to the devil? You tell him, " My generation doesnt belong to you because and here is the Key. I bind you in the Name of Jesus, and your not going to do it. See the key is to break that curse, In the Name of Jesus. Jesus gives us much more authority over the devil, than most people realize.
Dont however, expect the Devil to just "go away, because you binded him, he will come again over and over, and you must stand firm, and keep sending him away. You need to have on your armor for Spiritual Warfare all the time! Remember the Devil will try to put a curse on you again and again, but tell him "hey, I am not under the curse, Im under the blood of Jesus." Head him off at the pass, and dont buy into it.
I must warn you that the Devil will come back and bring with him Seven Spirits, Matthew 12:43-45, the last spirit being the worst than the first, he will head for your children. He has been in your family generation an aweful long time, and he is not likely to just walk away because you broke the curse. Warn your children, that this is coming, and do not let the devil in, remember this is your house, and not his. Don't let your kids get into alcohol or drugs or immorality and all that other stuff... Keep them close to you, and know what they are getting into... and if you "train up a child the right way, he will go back to what he knows.......
Notes from Pursuing Promises from God
These are the notes that I took from the sermon this morning, By B. Courtney McBath  from crcglobal.org . My hope is that something along these words, will be something that your soul needs to hear.
I learned any Vision on your own is probably not from God, because he needs to be in it.
We do however, need to get Passionate about something. The same way as you give, you get back. So Give with Passion. The more excited you are about giving to God, he returns it back to you.  Heaven is fine in the Recession. The Father is at Peace, we need to be at Peace too.
This weeks notes addresses Mark 5, the story of the woman who had bled for twelve years, and due to her faith was healed when she touched the Cloak of Jesus's hemline. Wow, what a frigtening time that must have been for her, to Boldly step out of her faith and reach out to the Jesus. After twelve years, she was pretty convinced that walking in Faith's alternative was alot better than were she was currently at.
In reference to last weeks teaching on the Parabel Son, when he was eating the pig slop, he came to himself. Even the Slaves in my daddy's house eat better than this.
Think Up- thoughts that take you down, or back, must change your thought patterns. Thoughts destroy him, if we don't adjust the way we think.
Recognize that once you come to Jesus, you dont have to take stuff from Devil. It's also the way you think about yourself
Learn to Look UP- After thinking and looking UP you have to change UP. This has to come in the way we learn to think differently.
The true meaning to worshiping is humbling yourself- get down, not down on yourself but to a position of humbleance. The plan of the enemy is to make you think either too much or not enough of yourself. Remember, a phony humility is also a form of Pride. Humbling puts you in a place where you can walk out the promises God gives us.
In reference to Act 12, Paul said the "things that I want to do, I don't do them, and the things I shouldnt do, I do....." (author's paraphrase). Paul just like I and you, fought with his Flesh and the Spirit.
Remember, the one who get's stronger (i.e. your flesh or your spirit) is the one that you feed. If you feed the Spirit, by reading the Word, and soaking it in like the warm sun . Your Spirit will grow. Your Spirit builds up confidence, but don't doubt for one moment that your Flesh will not rear up and act crazy again, for it will. Just keep feeding the Spirit, so when the flesh does act out, your Spirit is the stronger opponent. The Power of the Spirit, must keep the flesh down, for the flesh is always hungry. Your Spirit is willing but your flesh, keeps fighting.
Your Faith....
Faith will unlock your promises.
Where does Faith come from? In Romans 12;3  God gives everyone a measure of Faith, but how much Faith you have is based on what you have been doing with it? Ephesians 2:8-9 states " for by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves. It is the gift of God, not of Works, lest anyone should boast.
How did you get saved if you didnt know any better? The Spirit of God touched the gift of Faith in your life, to get you saved..... You already had the seeds planted within.
So then as I learn to trust God, I open promises in my life cause you get to know him, and know what words he has spoken.  When you hear the Word, Faith and the Word, plus Worship is life changing. You hear and receive the word.  When the Word comes in, it teaches you who God is, for it makes you know God better, and the more you can trust in him. Trust becomes real after time.
Faith is knowing who he is, the Word changes you.
Dont compare yoiurself to others, for you dont know where they are at, and Jesus looks at the heart not on the external. If you want to compare yourself, compare and try to mimic Jesus....
Faith Grows when you exercise, Romans 4:21. An exercise of Faith causes strength to increase.  I dont know about you, but I don't feel like continuously going through the same old stuff.
Repetition, it does not matter how heavy the weights are when you exercise, what matters more is how many repetitions are you doing, or how much toning are you doing? Tone yourself up now, so when the enemy comes in, your toned up and ready, loaded with the Word , and in Jesus's name.
Faith is real, when you feel like being nasty or not forgiving, you continue to say yes to God, even when you don't feel; like it. You deal with the ugliness, and keep saying Yes! So when your blessing does come, you are ready for it.  Remember Professional Boxer's do not get stronger by boxing, its the behind the scene exercising, toning, and repeations that they are doing that make them strong.
How is faith released?
